Care Worker of the Month – July 2022
We are delighted to announce that this month’s winner is Mark Bailey – Community Carer for Caremark Thanet.
Happy Friday everyone! It is the last Friday of the month which is always an exciting day at Social Care TV - as we announce our Care Worker of the Month Award winner!
Thank you so much for all your nominations. Once again we were overwhelmed with the incredible heart-warming entries we received this month. Again, a reflection on the hard work and dedication of our incredible caring community.
We are delighted to announce that our winner for June is Gillian Ross of GR Care Services, Forres. Gillian was nominated by no less than four separate people and we were incredibly moved by their stories. Many congratulations Gillian - you absolutely deserve this and thank you so much for all you do!
One of the nominations for Gillian was from Jane Ferguson. Please find Jane's story below:
"Dear Sirs
I would like to nominate Gillian Ross of G R Care services, Forres for this month’s award.
Gillian is one of a team of carers for my parents. She joined the team last year and has been an invaluable member since then.
My mother (previously very active) developed vascular dementia 5 years ago and is now in advanced stages at age 83yrs. My father who is 95yrs this July is now housebound with significant mobility issues.
Both of my parents absolutely love Gillian. My mother is clearly very happy and content with Gillian (my mother is non verbal now) and my father really enjoys Gillians chat and company. She is exemplary in her care of them. She always goes the extra mile with everything and has such a positive attitude - she always has a smile on her face. Nothing is too much trouble. She is generous with her time and her commitment to her job - suggesting ideas to help where appropriate.
She often when finishing her day shift at 3pm will ask my father if he wants to go with her to see her horse or a run in the car - just to get him out of the house which he greatly enjoys as a retired farmer who used to work with horses in his early farming days. He knows of Gillan and her family since she also grew up in the same rural area as my father and she can talk to him about local characters and the old days. She has a great sense of humour.
She clearly loves her profession and keeps herself up to date with training and has a wealth of experience to bring to the team. She is very professional in every way.
We feel very fortunate indeed as a family have Gillian join the team.
Carers like Gillian make me realise how important social care is and what good social care is and the significant difference it can make to peoples’ lives.
It’s for this reason that I would wish to nominate Gillian Ross as Care Worker of the month.
Kind regards,
Jane Ferguson"
Once again, many congratulations to Gillian and we thank you for everything you do.
